Economics played a pivotal role in the recovery of the world from the Second World War, and the dramatic changes to come in the 1960s. The birth of computing and then the Internet created the Age of Information. A new cohort of thinkers rose to meet new challenges and economics matured as a discipline. Making sense of the past eighty years, whether or not you have attended any previous courses, is a roller-coaster ride through economics, budgets, fast and slow thinking, triumphs and disasters and global warming. What has happened to the ‘pound is your pocket’ and why?
